The Musical Journey Of Roop Kumar Rathod

Roop Kumar Rathod was born in 1973, is an Indian playback singer, ghazal singer and music director. Mr. Rathod is the son of the late Pandit Chaturbhuj Rathod, the classical luminary. He was introduced to the world of music in his very early years. His musical journey began as a tabla player; his passion with playback singing began in the year 1989 with the song, ‘Main Tera Aashiq Hoon’, composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal for the movie ‘Gumraah.’ He was a tablist for many famous Indian singers. He is one of the Bollywood’s expert artistes and was the voice of Shahrukh Khan in many films like Veer Zaara, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Anwar, Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein, Veer, Tumsa Nahi Dekha. The song from the movie Border “Sandese Aate Hai” has become the anthem among military and army personnel. His best songs include ‘Kho Diye Jitne Lamhe’ (Vinashak), Jatin – Lalit’s ‘Zindagi Maut Na Ban Jaye’.

He has also been a playback singer for number of songs in Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese and Bhojpuri films. He has also performed in many shows and concerts along with Anup Jalota. He married Sunali Rathod who got divorced from Anup Jalota. They have a daughter named Reewa. On 15 August 2005, Sunali and Roop Kumar gave guest appearances at Sitcom show Sarabhai vs Sarabhai which is still one of the best Indian comedy shows on channel STAR One in India. Sunali Rathod with her husband also participated in Mission Ustaad, an Indian musical reality show and were crowned with the “Ustaad Jodi’ title which was held on February 23, 2008. His siblings are also much in the field of music. He recently released a sufi album with Sunali Rathod. Sunali has always accompanied Mr. Rathod by singing together songs like Laga Chunar Mein Daag, Duniya Ke Rakhwale, Albela Sajan, Chalte Chalte. They have sung number of bhajans and fusion music together and. He has also been a composer for films like Zeher in 2005, Madhoshi in 2004, Woh Tera Naam Tha in 2004. They create a unique experience in live shows on stage by complementing each other. Their bond of love and passion for music make them a perfect wedding singer couple for various weddings. He has magic in his voice; it clearly indicates that Mr.Rathod is very passionate for music.

Radio City launches ‘Shaam-E-Ghazal’ with Roop Kumar Rathod. Mr.Rathod has different ways of singing and promotes Indian culture through his music; his believes that all the singers should have the essence of depicting cultural harmony through music for the coming generation.

Life Express was a small movie with music of Mr.Rathod.He had composed some of the good tracks for the album with some long term songs like Phool Khila De, Thodi Si Kami etc. He has the softness in his voice which touches everyone’s heart.
